Trainer's Statement

Hello! My name is Imogen Poropat and I use positive reinforcement clicker training to teach both dogs and people. Training your own service dog is an exciting but sometimes overwhelming journey to embark upon, and I am happy to help walk you through that process. I am excited to share the joy as you watch your dog succeed, and help you work through those difficult patches or make hard decisions if we have to. Training your own service dog can be an amazing experience for the right team, and I’m happy to help you figure out if it is right for you.

I am a science based positive reinforcement trainer. I focus on a flexible, personalized approach to help each individual team achieve their goals. I focus not only on the training of the dog, but the education of their human partner as well. Especially with a service dog team I believe it is important for the client to have a solid grounding in how and why we train their dog in the way we do. I also love to work with my clients and love the opportunity that service dog training gives me to have long term relationship with them, all of us working towards a long term goal. I attend conferences and lectures every year to make sure that my information is as up to date as it can be, and that my training and teaching never becomes stale or out of date. I believe that dog training is a living science, and as such I have to constantly be seeking out new learning experiences for myself so that I can better serve my clients and their dogs.
